Color glitter paper to match Tim Holtz Distress Inks
Experimenting and thinking out of the box is so much fun! Something was "cooked" up this evening. First things first, if you want to try this technique, I recommend doing in a well ventilated space, and only use Doodle Bug Designs Sugar Coating Glitter paper (Recollections glitter card stock is not recommended).
Supplies:
- Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Glaze
- Doodle Bug Designs Sugar Coating Glitter paper
- Tweezers
- Coffee filter, copier paper, or tray to collect embossing powder
- Heat tool
- Heat resistant working surface
- Dies cuts (optional)
- Versamark Watermark Ink Stamp Pad

Learning, evolving, and self kindness...
We are changing our platform a little today, but I think it is imperative that we remember to be kind to our creative self especially when are learning something new or hit a creative roadblock. Learning how to paper craft comes with some challenges and can take some time to learn/master. I was reminded of this recently when my mom shared some photos of cards I made for her over 10 years ago. During that time, I was a novice card maker, and not all of my creations were, what I considered, spectacular. Even now, I make cards, that I am just not feeling. Can you relate?
While the evolution of the paper crafting industry has made a profound and positive impact to my creations, so has practice. I also think it is important to remember that most designers make mistakes and have oops moments, which are not typically captured in the videos and posts we ingest, but it happens to all of us. It is all a learning experience. Our work evolves with practice, and it is supposed to be enjoyable.
The point is, keep creating and learning. Don't let the inner critic steer you away from crafting. Even it you aren't consistently producing the results you want, you are learning and progressing.
Please comment and/or share one of your first projects, it is fun to travel down memory lane from time to time. ๐๐๐๐
Happy Crafting!

Easy to create backgrounds
Looking to use up some of your extra strips of colored cardstock? I love the look of using strips of coordinating cardstock as a background. Check out the quick video tutorial on how to make your own back ground. You can also use the panel for die cuts. ๐
Get the look
- Tape runner (the preferred method): run adhesive from your tape runner over the entire base of paper
- Liquid adhesive: dispenses liquid adhesive on the backside of each strip
- Double sided tape: adhere a sheet of double sided tape to the front of the entire sheet of cardstock.
- Copier paper
- Cut strips of paper
- Paper scrapper (optional)
- Die cut (optional)
- Cut a piece of copier paper or cardstock for your base panel
- Cover the copier paper with adhesive, copier paper works best if you are going to die cut, if you are not going to die cut after you add the strips, I recommend using cardstock for a little better stability. ๐
- Lay the strips down on the paper - covering at an angle works best, because it helps "hide" any mistakes if the paper is not cut straight
- Trim the excess off, buy turning over to the back side and trimming along the straight edges of the base panel.
- Die cut
- Bam, it is done! So easy.
We have upgraded!!
Woohoo, we upgraded our blog to account for more interaction between you and me!!! I am excited to make some improvements that will allow us to interact and communicate through a comments section. Other upgrades include:

I also have a great tutorial I want to share with you about designing making use of scraps and making your own background. Therefore, today there will be two blog posts. This first one sharing our new look, and a second one later this afternoon with a fun tutorial on how to make
Unfortunately, our older posts will only be available for a short period of time here, and you will need to set up as an account user for access to previous posts. As a reminder we post twice a week, Tuesday's and Fridays.
I also ordered some new equipment to assist in making video tutorials to share with you. Do you love video tutorials?
